STUDIO GLEANED JEWELLERY
Gleaned is the sustainable, contemporary jewellery collection designed & made by Kes Harper in her off grid solar studio.
Playing on the historical meaning of 'gleaned', discarded steel tins are sourced, cut, shaped and remade into decorative tin jewellery.
Colourful patterns on olive oil tins, biscuit or tea tins evoke exotic places of olive groves or mermaids & ornate florals. To this jeweller, 'scrap' become decorative earrings, necklaces, brooches and rings.
Kes gently turns our attention to reuse and gleaning. Her jewellery captures the otherwise unseen details of our everyday, often framing them in sterling silver, wrapped in intrigue of their origin.
Gleaned jewellery is elegant, contemporary and industrial in style. Earrings embrace silver fittings in their design. Lariat necklaces forgo traditional fastenings for a large decorative ring through which the wearer can slide a chain, customising their necklace when worn.
